Since the beginning of 2025, some patients have become uncomfortable with prescribing recipes with full reimbursement. A different legal interpretation of the new law on the national health information system caused people not to get a so - called electronic prescription for some drugs and had to go to the doctor for the paper. The problem is solved and re-prescription for such medicines will be launched soon.
Following the registration of the prescribing problem of fully-paid medicines from 1 January 2025 to doctors by electronic means, the management of the Ministry of Health has started to address the situation intensively. This was more time-consuming, especially because the problem concerns several elements of the health system, from health insurance to the National Health Information Centre. The solution therefore took a little more time.
The problem is solved and I assume that the re-prescription of this type of medicine via electronic recipes will be launched no later than tomorrow. Thus, once again, patients who pay for their own medicines and who have received healthcare from public health insurance will no longer have to go on a paper recipe to doctors, said Minister of Health Kamil Šaško. The minister apologized for the complications.
