On 28 May 2024 Under EU State aid rules European Commission (EC) approved First important project of common European interest (IPCEI) in the field of health ÞIPCEI Med4Cureņ. The project aims to promote the most important European research, innovation and first industrialisation of health products as well as innovative drug manufacturing processes contributing to the achievement of the objectives.European
Health Union. It will bring innovations for diseases where there is no satisfactory means of prevention or treatment and will increase the EU's preparedness for emerging health threats as well as the development of a European bio-economy.
Project IPCEI Med4Cure together prepared and notified by six Member StatesBelgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Spain. These countries will provide up to EUR 1 billion from public sources, which should bring an additional EUR 5.9 billion in private investment. For this project 13 companies Acting in one or more Member States 14 highly innovative projects, from which more than 70 planned collaborations will arise. Slovak Republic will be represented in the project by leading Slovak biotech companiesBiomedical
Engineering aSensible Biotechnologies, which only meet the European Commission's difficult assessment criteria.
The project leads to improved health care and improved EU preparedness for emerging health threats. It aims to accelerate medical progress and promote the resilience of the EU health sector by:
- improving the discovery of medicines, especially in the field of rare diseases
- developing innovative and more sustainable drug production processes
- sustainability of manufacturing technologies for breakthrough therapies, from personalised treatment to advanced digital technologies.
The completion of the IPCEI project is planned for 2036 and the timetables vary according to individual projects and participating companies. According to the participating Member States, it is expected to be around 6000 direct and indirect jobs.
Company Biomedical Engineering Getting a European CUSTOMED project IPCEI Med4cure calls, which address dozens of important European biotechnology companies, including Sanofi (France), OncoRNA (Belgium), Sanofi (Italy), Fagotherapy (Italy), and others.
Biomedical Engineering is internationally recognized high-tech society with 14 years of experience designed and produced Hundreds of personalised bone substitutes of the human body and added over 70,000 pieces of serial implantv multinationals.
CUSTOMED project is the future in implantology and tissue engineering. Project output will Future technology using 3D bioprinting and bioreactors with the application of artificial intelligence for creation Personalised cartilage tissue replacements. This technology will enable patients to obtain, for example, new biological intervertebral plates.
The device will also serve on tcultivation of various types of newly developed drugs for severe diseases. CUSTOMED technology, as part of the production hospital, gives hope to patients with bone and cartilage damage and allows for faster access to new medicines.
In EUmRNA project, Sensible Biotechnology ('Sensible') Developing a platform SensiRNA to natural production of safe mRNA. The platform developed by Sensible is the first and most advanced technology for producing natural mRNA in an efficient and scalable way using optimised live cells.
Sensible Biotechnologies is rapidly growing global startup with laboratories in Slovakia, the UK and the United States. In less than three years from its inception, it has gained more than $10 million from top European and American biotech investors, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ginkgo Bioworks biotechnological giant and is currently negotiating with other major biotech companies on cooperation on the development of biotech infrastructure in Slovakia and job creation in the biotechnology sector.
Our vision is to develop a new generation safer, more efficient and more accessible mRNA medicines. We also want to help build key infrastructure for biological production in Slovakia, bring quality foreign investment and create a lot of jobs in the biotechnological sector and thus help make Slovakia a relevant player in the field of biotechnology. We see a lot of promising talent and opportunities for growth in Slovakia, said Miroslav Gašpárek, co-founder and CEO of Sensible.
EUmRNA project Sensible, co-financed by the EU-wide programme breakthrough technologies, but also many interesting posts, in potential disadvantaged regions. The project aims to finalise the development of mRNA cell production technology, concluded by the approval of the final medical product, creation of positive impacts on Slovak biotechnological ecosystem and anchoring the position of Slovakia as a centre for biotechnological innovation.
