The Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Kamil Šaško with a team of experts today in Prešov continued the regional round tables. The department management presented concrete solutions to health sector representatives, whose main aim is to bring improvements to the Slovak patient.
Minister Šaško started the expert discussions in the regions in the last year, during which he charted the main health challenges and problems across Slovakia. This year, the minister returns to the regions already with specific solutions. Today he met representatives of the sector from Prešov region and Košice region.
We need to build health from the bottom up, listen to people from practice, understand regional problems and look for solutions that will have a real impact on the patient. Last year we traveled all over Slovakia and collected important suggestions. We are returning today to present concrete steps that will move our health sector forward. The patient in the first place is our commitment, which we fulfill, said Minister Šaško. The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic will continue the dialogue with all key partners in the sector so that systemic changes are based on real needs of practice. I sincerely believe that in this way we can build health services together, which will not only be effective but above all human and just. the minister spoke at the meeting.
Professional round tables with the Minister of Health will be gradually held in other regions of Slovakia. The main objective is to present practical solutions in terms of access to healthcare, reducing waiting times and improving conditions for healthcare professionals.
Three key requirements which define the current and future set-up of health policy in a fundamental way:
- Halting the debt of the healthcare system
- Clarifying the financial flows in health, including medicines and medical devices
- Requirements for streamlining the healthcare provision system by professional organisations, trade unions and patient associations for which health services are primarily intended.
