The second weekend in February was held in Ľubochňa an initial meeting of the participants in the program Zvrátme Diabetes type 2 with the participation of experts from the National Endocrinological and Diabetes Institute, n.o.
The Ministry of Health in cooperation with the National Endocrinological and Diabetes Institute, n.o. was involved in the pilot project Care4Diabetes co-financed by the European Union, in which 30 partners from 12 countries are involved. The project aims to reduce the occurrence and impact of Type 2 Diabet through the practical application of innovative procedures.
To this end, Care4Diabetes is piloted in all participating countries by the programme "Reverse Diabetes Now" in Slovakia under the name "Collect Type 2 Diabetes" (hereinafter referred to as the Dutch organisation Voeding Left). The program is based on the treatment regimen for type 2 diabetes and its objectives are: improving the quality of life of patients, prolonging the life expectancy of patients, reducing the costs of standard treatment, improving the management of type 2 diabetes, including pharmacological treatment. The whole program is under medical supervision.
On 10.02. - 11.02.2024, an initial meeting was held at the National endocrinological and diabetes Institute, n.o. of the participants in the program Let's reverse Diabetes Type 2. The programme took place with the participation of a trained multidisciplinary team, headed by the head of the NEDÚ doc. Dr. Emil Martinka, PhD. The weekend program consisted of medical examinations, lectures and practical exercises in the field of healthy eating, physical activity, relaxation and quality sleep. Throughout the weekend there was a pleasant friendly atmosphere, the participants enjoyed walks in nature overlooking the mountains of Great Fatra and among the patients created a supportive community, which combines the fight with the same disease. The program included a workshop from the local chef, in which he presented simple and healthy recipes suitable for diabetics. The weekend meeting is just the beginning of a few months' programme, which continues with regular online or personal meetings.
