In accordance with the EU regulation, the National Health Information Centre (NCZI) has started to generate new EU Digital COVID cards for all those who have received booster vaccination.
Pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2021/953, the digital covid certificate (DCC) is valid 270 days (9 months) after the primary vaccination course. Those who have also received booster vaccination (3rd or 4th dose) have unlimited DCC validity. For persons under 18 years of age, the unlimited validity of the DCC is after completion of the primary vaccination course.
In line with the maintenance of the highest safety standards, the EU digital COVID licences will be automatically generate every 270 days, always 14 days before their technical validity expires. For NCZI, this means regenerating over 1.7 million certificates issued.
The extension applies only to DCCs exposed after booster vaccination over 18 years, in the case of subjects under 18 years of age after the primary vaccination course.
At all times, the current certificates ensure that you set up the automatic sending of new certificates that can be set up via the self-service Portal of the registered applicant, namely 24/7, without the need to contact the NCZI call centre. Just enter your covid pass, year of birth and phone number or email address if you do not remember your registered phone number.
A digital COVID card with more than two billion certificates issued facilitated free movement at a time when travel restrictions were considered necessary, while allowing for the coordinated lifting of these restrictions as soon as possible. Over 70 countries are currently issuing DCCs worldwide.
For reasons of epidemiological vigilance, the system shall be maintained until at least the end of June 2023. NCZI does not currently register intra-EU restrictions on the spread of disease, pred on the way to third countries recommends to check the situation on the website of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs or directly in the destination country.
