During this and last week, the Ministry of Health distributes adapted Comirnate Original/Omicron BA.4-5 vaccines to vaccination centres against COVID-19 disease from Pfizer/Biontech. Comirnate for subvariant BA. 4-5 (micron variant) is intended as a booster (first and second booster) dose for persons from 12 years of age. The vaccine centers that will vaccinate this vaccine will increase gradually. From today, vaccination begins in vaccination centres in Slovakia with the latest adapted Comirnate Original/Omicron BA.4-5 vaccine, which provides increased protection against the currently most widespread subvariant micron. Please note that as was the case with BA.1 antimicrobial vaccines, BA.4-5 cannot be administered as a primary vaccination course. The vaccine is intended for booster doses only, i.e. it can only be given to persons who have already received primary vaccination with original COVID-19 vaccines.
Sign up for vaccination with this vaccine can be accessed via the corona.gov.sk website or by phone call to the call centre of NCZI. If the student enters the preferred vaccination centre at the time of registration other than those listed in the list, he will be moved to the so-called waiting room and assigned the date in the selected vaccination centre to him as soon as possible, i.e. once the vaccination centre starts the administration of the vaccine to subvariant BA.4-5. Vaccination centres vaccinated with the latest vaccine will increase gradually, with Comirnate administered to subvariant BA.1 not being administered until now. The subvariant BA.4-5 vaccine by Pfizer-Biontech may be administered:
* as first or second booster dose,
* persons over the age of 12,
*at least 3 months after the last dose,
* individuals who have experienced COVID-19 disease may receive a booster dose of the modified vaccine at least 3 months after the disease has been completed.
COvid-19 can still cause long-lasting health effects. The best way to prevent this risk is through vaccination. The state provided free vaccination for all citizens in Slovakia. It is now up to every citizen to protect their own health. Experts also recommend to follow basic hygiene measures such as regular and intense ventilation, home testing for symptoms of the disease, or after attending a mass event or thorough hand washing. It is also recommended to use a respirator at mass events or when travelling by public transport and so on.
