According to the current decree of the Public Health Office, isolation is set at 5 days after a positive test result for COVID-19. This is only the case if the patient has no more pronounced signs of the disease and recovers within five days. Otherwise, it is up to the doctor to decide when the isolation and incapacity for work will be completed. A guide for patients and loved ones will help in home treatment.

A person goes into quarantine after close contact with a positive person (if one of the exceptions does not apply). If there are no symptoms of the disease, the length is five days. The need to perform the test at least on the fifth day is decided by the treating physician. The isolation concerns a person with a positive test result. Domestic isolation lasts five days from the date of positive sampling. This is the case if the patient has no more pronounced signs of the disease. More about the rules of isolation can be found on the website of the Slovak Public Health Office here:https://www.uvzr.sk/docs/uvod/isolation carantena 220131.pdf.

Adriana Šimková, the head expert of the Slovak Ministry of Health, reminds that whoever has a positive test result or positive contact should inform his general doctor. This includes those who do not have symptoms. The health status of a positive condition may worsen, although there are no signs of the disease at the time of the test. It is therefore important that he is in contact with a doctor and that he adjusts the patient's treatment in a timely manner, warns Šimko. The principal explained that five days of isolation involves patients without more severe symptoms. As with other diseases, the length of sick leave - and in this case isolation - depends on the course of the disease. It's on the doctor's judgement, said Dr. Šimková.

The health department recalls that so-called PN patient writing is not necessarily a condition for isolation or quarantine. If the nature of the work and the state of health allow it, the patient can work from home. It can also take holiday during these days. It's his decision and agreement with the employer. In any case, it is necessary to take into account the health status of the disease, it is important to follow the crank mode and do not burden the body. Do not forget to stay in touch with your doctor.

The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the main specialist in general medicine, has developed a practical manual for patients and their loved ones. They will learn how to treat themselves at home, when to contact a doctor or an ambulance, as well as other information that will help to cope.
