Since Tuesday 5 December 2023, it is possible to register children for vaccination against COVID-19 disease with Comirnate Omicron XBB.1.5. Parents can register children aged 6 months to 11 years. The date of vaccination will be informed after registration, and children can be vaccinated at the Faculty Hospital with the Polyclinic F. D. Roosevelt in Banská Bystrica. Vaccination against COVID-19 is as voluntary as in other age groups.
The health department extends the possibility of vaccination against COVID-19 disease for other age groups. Children between 6 months and 4 years of age and between 5 and 11 years of age may also be enrolled for vaccination with Comirnate Omicron XBB.1.5. Vaccination of children in both of these age categories will be carried out at the request of the parent to vaccinate the child against COVID-19 disease, which is considered to sign an informed consent in relation to the execution of vaccination against COVID-19 disease.
Registration for vaccination is available at www.korona.gov.sk or via the website of the National Health Information Centre www.nzisk.sk. The first dates for vaccination should be allocated during next week. The vaccination itself will be allowed in the Faculty Hospital with the Polyclinic F. D. Roosevelt in Banská Bystrica. Vaccination of children from 12 years of age with this vaccine has been carried out since the end of September in vaccination settings such as the adult population.
By abolishing the emergency declared in 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19, the legal capacity of the state to intervene and directly manage the vaccination process against COVID-19 disease was substantially limited. It is therefore currently possible to carry out vaccinations on the basis of the legislation in force (which is preceded by the distribution of vaccines, because they are the property of the State, ...) only in hospitals whose founder is the State. However, the aim of the Health Department will continue to provide the possibility of voluntary vaccination against COVID-19 disease for all those interested in vaccination.
Vaccination of children aged 6 months to less than 4 years
- Comirnate is administered intramuscularly as a primary cycle of three doses.
- Persons previously vaccinated with a vaccine against COVID-19 may be given the vaccine at least 3 months after the last dose as a single vaccination.
Vaccination of children aged 5 months to less than 11 years•The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, regardless of the type of vaccine administered, as part of a previous vaccination against COVID-19 disease as a 1 dose.
