The Ministry of Health reminds people over 60 years of age that they are entitled to PCR testing paid by the State. PCR test results are generally known within 24 hours (up to a maximum of 96 hours) - early testing is very important for the initiation of adequate therapy.
Use of state-sponsored PCR testing is twice as important for vulnerable groups. In case of suspected or early symptoms of COVID-19 health sector recommends using this option as soon as possible. Thanks to the early confirmation of the disease, it is possible to introduce appropriate treatment more effectively. An example is the administration of Lagevrio with the active substance molnupiravir.
Despite reduced availability in Europe, Slovakia has adequate stocks of this antiviral medicine. It is all the more important that the medicine is used rationally, efficiently and purposefully in patients at risk of mild to moderate disease progression. PCR testing allows the medicinal product to be prescribed directly to patients who need Lagevrio, to avoid accumulation of the active substance, or to prescribe for preventive reasons.

In case of a positive result, you need to contact your doctor by phone and consult with him on your condition.

In addition to Lagevrio, the Ministry of Health is working on setting up the distribution and route of the patient to receive the antiviral medicine Paxlovid. On the basis of the completed procurement process and the signed contract with the manufacturer, Slovakia will be delivered 25 000 packs of medicine already in August 2022.
