At the Ministry of Health today the Pandemic Commission of the Government of the Slovak Republic, under the direction of the Minister of Health Marek Krajčí, met. The subject of the Pandemic Commission meeting was an analysis of the current measures taken by Slovakia in relation to the Pandemic COVID-19, an assessment of the overall epidemiological situation and a discussion of whether further measures should be taken. An important point of discussion was also the proposal for a new Pandemic Plan of the Slovak Republic. It has not yet been definitively approved, the Pandemic Commission has agreed that comments should be incorporated into the proposal. It will be re-examined by the Commission at its next meeting on 11 August 2020.
The aim of the pandemic plan is to ensure Slovakia's preparedness for the pandemic of acute respiratory diseases, to eliminate the health and economic burden on the population, to establish the tasks of the government, self-government and professional bodies that manage, ensure and carry out activities in connection with ensuring the protection of public health. Under the new pandemic plan, the procedures for the second wave of the CVID-19 pandemic will be coordinated.
Slovak Health is ready for a possible second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital currently operates in a standard regime, and patients receive healthcare without restrictions. According to the health department, people with or suspected of COVID-19 are hospitalized in infectious departments. In the event of an increase in the number of acute patients, medical facilities are ready to immediately allocate necessary beds, said Minister of Health Marek Krajčí.

At today's meeting, the Pandemic Commission decided to set up four working groups. The first of these will be to provide outpatient health care, including through district offices at the county headquarters, in cooperation with higher territorial units. The task of this working group will be to define which doctors could provide healthcare in the so-called epidemiological offices at the time of the pandemic. The second working group will prepare the implementation of immunisation in Slovakia, i.e. the provision of vaccine against COVID-19. The third working group will set up rapid intervention teams that could intervene directly on the ground and be regionally deployed. It will be teams able to travel immediately in the event of an outbreak and stabilise the situation, stated Minister Marek Krajčí. The fourth working group will create so-called traffic lights for social services facilities, primary health care facilities and hospitals. According to these traffic lights, medical facilities will be reprofiled during the next onset of the pandemic.
