The Slovak Republic is joining the efforts of the European Union and its Member States to support third countries in combating COVID-19 by sharing vaccines. Pursuant to Order No 364/2021 of the Government of the Slovak Republic Slovakia donates 60 thousand vaccines to the producer AstraZeneca Ukraine and 10 thousand to Montenegro.By offering vaccines to Ukraine and Montenegro, we express our solidarity with these important foreign partners and contribute to the fight against COVID-19 at global level. I consider vaccination to be the most effective way to combat a pandemic and it is important that vaccines are available where they are most needed at the moment. By sharing vaccines with foreign partners, we also help ourselves, as we cannot defeat the pandemic within the borders of one state, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ivan Korčok.At present, vaccination is the only tool that protects against serious COVID-19. We manage the entire vaccination process very carefully from the Ministry, so once we have seen the scope in terms of the effectiveness of using the vaccines that we currently have, we have decided to help in the field of vaccination also with foreign partners, as COVID-19 is one of the key points for solving not only in Slovakia but also beyond the borders, said Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský. The provision of vaccines is provided by the Ministry of Health in coordination with departments of diplomacy and interior. The donation of vaccines to third countries is coordinated with the European Commission. Donating vaccines to Ukraine and Black Upstairs, Slovakia's vaccination needs are not at stake. The department of diplomacy in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic will continue efforts to provide excess vaccines to other countries. In this way, Slovakia will also open up opportunities for flexible obtaining vaccines from foreign partners depending on current needs.
