Vaccination is the most effective weapon against the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighted today by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Head of Health Eduard Heger. He pointed out that all the vaccines we use in Slovakia were subject to quality control. –Vaccination brings us closer to the desired goal of a winning conclusion in the fight against a pandemic, said Eduard Heger.
Zuzana Baťa, director of the State Medicine Control Institute, stressed that the benefits of vaccination against COVID-19 disease outweigh any risks. With regard to AstraZeneca, she recalled that at Friday's meeting of the European Medicines Agency's Safety Committee, it was concluded that there is no increased risk of thromboembolic events following vaccination with AstraZeneca. "The risk of non-vaccination and subsequent disease COVID-19 is significantly greater for thromboembolic events than the risk after vaccination," pointed out by the Director of ŠUKL.
Each vaccine we deal with is a pandemic, because only vaccination leads to the victory and return to life that we knew before the pandemic itself and before its arrival in Slovakia, said Minister Heger. "We fine-tune the application of the waiting room to remove all errors and ensure maximum comfort during the vaccination itself, but also waiting for this vaccination," added Minister Heger. At the same time, he called on everyone not to fear vaccination, as it is the strongest weapon in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Chief specialist of MZ SR for haematology Angelika Batorová added that patients with thrombotic problems should consult a doctor before vaccination. However, there is no reason why patients who are taking blood thinners should not be vaccinated. She recalled that also according to international society for haemostasis and thrombosis the benefit of vaccination, including AstraZeneca, far exceeds the risks that have been reported and described so far.
