Since Monday 18 May, the Office of Public Health of the Slovak Republic has extended the group of persons to whom the compulsory quarantine will not apply after border crossing. For example, people working in Austria and the Czech Republic in selected areas, people living in a pendler household, students taking part in training in the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary or Poland, or those who provide immediate care to their relatives in neighbouring countries, will also receive exceptions. The measure entered into force on Monday 18 May at 7 a.m.
Exceptions to the isolation obligation shall also be extended to:
- to persons who are resident or temporarily resident in the Slovak Republic and who have an employment relationship, similar working relationship or place of work (e.g. SZČ), in the field of health, care, scientific researcher, pedagogical staff or seasonal worker in the agricultural or food sector, at a distance of more than 30 km from the border crossing point from the territory of the Slovak Republic to the territory of the Czech Republic or the Republic of Austria. They will need confirmation from the employer of such work and will be obliged to submit the result of the negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19 disease not older than 96 hours.
- to persons living in one household with a permanent residence or a temporary stay in border areas provided that they cross the border with their accompanying persons (so far this applies only to the children of these pendlers).
- citizens of the Slovak Republic who are resident or temporarily resident in the border areas of the neighbouring State within 30 km from the open border crossing point to the territory of the Slovak Republic and persons living with them in the same household, provided that they cross the border with them.

- to persons who are resident or temporarily resident in the Slovak Republic and provide immediate care for close family members in the territory of the neighbouring country who are unable to take care of themselves. A person who thus crosses the border of the Slovak Republic is obliged to prove himself by a certificate of immediate care from a doctor close to the family member and by an honest statement of family relationship. These documents must be translated into the Slovak language, except in the Czech language. If the persons concerned stay in these countries for more than 24 hours, these persons are obliged to submit the result of the negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19 not older than 96 hours when entering the Slovak Republic.
