Currently 3 273 patients with suspected COVID are hospitalized in hospitals in Slovakia, of whom 3 049 people have confirmed their disease. There are 251 patients on the ICU, the support of artificial pulmonary ventilation needs 279 people. State Secretary, Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic Peter Stachura visited Galanta Health World Hospital. This provides healthcare mainly for patients with COVID-19. Health representatives also visited the hospital in Levice.
In order to deal with the situation in the region, the Galanta hospital was re-profiled to the so-called "Red Hospital', which provides healthcare mainly for patients with COVID-19. State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Peter Stachura, discussed the current state of the facility with hospital management. The State Secretary also actively discussed hospital needs and personally visited the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Medicine, where patients with COVID-19 are treated. The staff work under the direction of Major Dagmar Bodák. I especially appreciate the dedication of staff, doctors, nurses, medical assistants and ambulances who care for patients with COVID-19," said Peter Stachura.
The situation in the region remains serious and will require further reprofilation of beds, which the State Secretary and the hospital's management discussed. The Ministry, together with institutional health care providers in the region, continues to cooperate with regard to reprofiling additional beds. The Galanta hospital has free beds, but they are dependent on hospital staff and material and technical security. Today, 114 patients are on 132 reprofiled COVID beds. Eight of them on artificial lung ventilation. Since the start of the hospital's RED, 201 COVID patients have been admitted to the hospital. During that time 47 were released and unfortunately 45 existed. The hospital management promised to look for additional opportunities to increase the number of reprofiled beds within the hospital. By the end of the coming week, they promised to reprofil another 20 beds. The State Secretary also visited the hospital in Levice on Friday.
