Health professionals from Denmark and Belgium will also help Slovakia to combat the pandemic. On Friday at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic they were welcomed by the State Secretary of the Department Peter Stachura. They will go to the Faculty Hospital with the Polyclinic F. D. Roosevelt in Banská Bystrica.
As Stachura approached, from Saturday (13.3.) three doctors and five sisters from Denmark and two doctors and one sister from Belgium and other auxiliary personnel will be working in Banská Bystrica. They will create mixed teams with Slovak colleagues.
Thanks to their help, the Banská Bystrica hospital will expand the fund of intensive beds by four to eight additional places. "I believe that thanks to this help coming to us, we will be able to stabilise the situation that is currently in Slovakia and so that we do not have to translate patients outside the borders of Slovakia. It is our absolute interest and intention," underlined by the State Secretary.
He also thanked for solidarity within European countries. It talks about a positive report for Slovakia. Healthcare professionals will communicate in English.
He also noted that a few days ago hospitals were in a difficult situation. One option, therefore, was to transport patients to Poland and Germany. He explained that this was a new situation for Slovakia, so relatives are often worried about patients. It therefore welcomes the offers of other countries.
The Danish party noted that the situation in their country is stable, so they can respond to the request of other countries. The Danish team has experience in working on intensive care units and also has experience in treating patients with COVID-19. In Slovakia, the Danish team will stay for two weeks, followed by other Danish colleagues. Stay here till April 2.
The Belgian team has experience in rapid first-aid units, consisting of highly qualified health professionals. Slovakia also offered five beds of intensive care.Source: TASR
