About a month ago, vaccination of educators within 55 years with AstraZeneca vaccine was initiated. Originally, vaccinated people were to receive a second dose after 28 days. However, for new knowledge of experts and scientists at international level, the date of the second vaccination is postponed to ten weeks after the first dose of vaccine. It will increase its effectiveness.
The Ministry of Health warns people who have been vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca to postpone the date of the second vaccination. The second dose will not be given after 4 weeks, but 10 weeks after the first vaccination against COVID-19. Studies have shown greater effectiveness in shifting the second term. The delay is fully in line with the general recommendations for the vaccine from this manufacturer, which recommend the administration of the second dose within 4 to 12 weeks. New knowledge of the vaccine from that manufacturer also allowed the age limit for vaccinated persons to be shifted from 55 years to 70 years. Currently there are dates for registration of people aged 60 to 70.
AstraZeneca is given as a two-dose cycle. The studies confirmed its high efficacy even after the first dose.
