The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic will launch a pilot operation of a new list of health performances for the first five professionals from 1 July. It's neurology, internal medicine, geriatrics, pneumology and dermatovenerology. The health department will allocate €5 million to the pilot project. The health minister Kamil Šaško informed about this on Tuesday at a press conference in Banská Bystrica.

Pilot project for a new health performance catalogue is being prepared by the Ministry together with health insurance companies and outpatient health care providers. The aim is to evaluate the real demands of health performances, such as its duration, complexity and while the performance itself is being transferred, and Šaško has approached the fact that the new catalogue of performances should in future in particular bring about an increase in the availability of healthcare in the regions and a reduction in waiting times. The choice of outpatient providers to be involved in the pilot project will be the responsibility of health insurance companies. The project will take six months, the health department wants to get a real picture of individual performances in selected expertise. A three-month analytical phase will follow. We have great expectations of this in terms of streamlining the system and I consider this to be a significant shift in the provision of outpatient health care, and Šaško added. The launch of the pilot project of the new health performance catalogue was announced jointly by the Minister of Health and the Chairman of the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region (BBSK) Ondrej Lunter. Exactly a year ago, he drew attention to the critical shortage of pneumologists in the region, which he said were the economic reasons behind.
