Operation of COVID-19 GreenPass vaccination demonstration applications will end on 31.12.2023. Neither will the OverPass and OverPass Special apps, which have been used to verify the covid certificates. This is due to a significant decrease in the use of applications due to the absence of restrictions and termination of EU DCC certificates on 30.6.2013.
The COVID-19 disease vaccination document is currently issued by the healthcare facility after vaccination. The National Health Information Centre https://cikidforms.nzisk/patient portal/coid-19-validate-patient IDSK.php) may continue to be requested for the national certificate of vaccination carried out.
Colleagues from the Ministry of Regional Development and Informatics Investment of the Slovak Republic informed the Department of Health about the end of operation of mobile applications GreenPass, OverPass and OverPass Special on 31.12.2023. As an orderer of these services, they decided on the basis of significantly reduced use by citizens and after consultation and analysis of experts. Applications that their users download in their mobile phones and have uploaded certificates remain available until they install the app themselves. However, recording new certificates is no longer possible.
The GreenPass application was put into operation on 30.6.2011 under Regulation (2021/953 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2021). Applications for verification of covid certificates were subsequently launched by loading QR code. The aim was to facilitate the movement of people during a pandemic. In view of the current situation, which led to the abolition of sweeping measures and the abolition of the issuance of EU Digital Covid Certificates since 30.06.2023, the need for citizens to use applications has been reduced. This is not effective. If the future development of Covid-19 would require the re-launch of applications, it will be possible to reactivate them.
