The Ministry of Health points out that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has undergone a change in the vision of the European Health Insurance Card (hereinafter referred to as "EHIC") issued for persons participating in the public health system in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to which, under the Withdrawal Agreement (BREXIT), as well as under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the application of the coordination regulations will continue beyond 31 December 2020. Thus, after 1 January 2021, in addition to the British EHIC used so far, persons with a relationship to the United Kingdom may also be shown to the British EHIC with a new visual.
At the same time, the Global Health Insurance Card (hereinafter referred to as "GHIC") is issued by the British side.
The rights of persons proving to the British EHIC (in all applicable visuals) and GHIC remain unchanged after 1 January 2021. The change concerns only the redesign of the EHIC card, it does not interfere in any way with the patient's rights agreed under the UK withdrawal agreement from the European Union and under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement. These persons continue to be entitled to urgent and necessary health care in the territory of the Slovak Republic, as they have so far. The procedure for reporting the cost of healthcare provided to these persons remains the same as for other insured persons from other EU Member States.
All licences displayed below are valid before the expiry date, which is shown directly on the licence.
