ODA is a summary of state activities aimed at helping and supporting developing (poorer) countries towards sustainable development. It is based on funds allocated by national governments from national budgets and subsequently either transferred to international institutions such as the UN, OECD, EU, focused on development aid (multilateral development assistance) or financed by them projects and programmes in their selected countries (bilateral development assistance) or by agreement with a partner (trilateral development assistance).
In 2009 MZ SR was also involved in providing official development assistance to Afghanistan in supplying polio vaccines in cooperation with WHO and Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
