Classification of districts is a tool to determine the degree of threat to ensuring the availability of general outpatient care in individual districts in Slovakia. The parameters for the classification of districts, which are considered decisive for the inclusion of districts in individual grades, are:
- - local availability of providers,
- - the demographic structure of doctors,
- - the extent to which optimal capacity is met.
No later than 31 July each year, the Ministry of Health classifies the districts as:
- - secured district (green),
- - risk district (orange colour),
- - deficiency district (red colour),
- - critical district (black),
