Results of the evaluation of the state of the public optimal network of primary specialist gynaecological outpatient care providers

On 1 January 2025, legislation defining a new public optimal network of primary specialised gynaecological outpatient care (GYN) providers and a new public network of GYN providers came into force. The public optimal network of GYN providers is established annually at district level and the results of its assessment are published by the Health Care Supervisory Authority under the Decree The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic No.. 42/2025 Coll. on the public optimal network of general outpatient care providers, primary specialist gynaecological outpatient care providers and specialist outpatient care providers provided in a specialised office. The first evaluation was carried out on 1 September 2025, with the public optimal network of GYN providers being made public by the publication of the evaluation results established on 30 December 2025.

The core unit of the public optimal network of GYN providers and the public network of GYN providers is the ambulance defined by 30 hours per week. The public network of GYN providers is made up of an active publicly available primary gynaecological-natal practice with a healthcare contract concluded with a health insurance company.

The public network of GYN providers on 1.1.2026 consisted of 622 providers operating 713 primary gynaecological-natal practice in individual health insurance companies, which, taking into account the actual extent of their ordination hours and converting them into a standardised practice (30 hours per week), corresponded to 737 standardised offices. Optimum capacity was provided by all health insurance companies in 41 districts, in other districts there was a total absence of 46 primary gynaecological-born ambulances. It was not possible to comprehensively evaluate the staff composition of the public network of GYN providers throughout the whole Slovak Republic due to insufficient reporting of staffing arrangements by providers (obligation pursuant to § 79 § 18 and § 102az §. 4).
