In accordance with Component 11 of the Recovery and Resilience Plan - Better Health decided to build a new ISVS National Archive of Image Examinations. The project itself Building a central image examination archive is based on component 11 and relates to the following reforms and investments:
- Reform 3: Centralising the management of major hospitals
- Investment 3: Digitalisation in health care
At the same time, the project also reflects the requirements of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Health, which is the following identified projects:
- Project 4 establishment of a shared image examination archive linking the National Health Information System (eHealth) and the National Digital Biobank
- Project 13 radiology supported by AI.
On the basis of the above, a development project was defined Building a central archive of image examinations and complementary modules, with the main objective of the project being:
- to build a shared archive of digital image examinations for the network of institutional health care providers (PSS) under the responsibility of the Ministry of Health (MZ) of the Slovak Republic, as well as other health care providers (CSOs), in which software equipment will be available to ensure the sharing of information on image examinations between individual PBS, without the need for physical data transfer. At the same time, it will be possible to build databases and files which will subsequently be used, for example, to train artificial intelligence as a tool to help diagnose healthcare professionals; and
- Implement selected artificial intelligence tools covering the following priority areas:
- Support for diagnosis of suspected stroke from CT and MR perfusion tests
- Support for screening and standard assessment of dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases from MRI
- Support for sorting and second opinion in mammographic examinations
- Support for diagnosis of lung cancer or pulmonary fibrosis
- Supporting pathological diagnostics (e.g. tools to ensure the assessment of digitised pathological preparations).
