Currently, each radiation oncologist spends on average between 30% and 50% of his working time by segmenting (contouring) sections from computer tomography. This work is monotonous, laborious, leads to inefficient exploitation of the potential of radiation oncologists and reduces the attractiveness of this health profession. Last but not least, it can also cause longer waiting times for radiotherapy for cancer patients.
The proposed solution is to provide a tool that will automatically perform this activity, either completely without the need for interaction of the radiation oncologist or with the minimum need for its interaction, so that this tool is available to all key healthcare providers within Slovakia and covers modern standards for radiotherapy planning. The subject of the contract will then be installation and service support of this solution for 5 years.
The aim of this project is to reduce the average time spent by the radiation oncologist in contouring the risk organs by at least 50% compared to the current state. The primary beneficiary is therefore radiation oncologist, which should save at least 15% of his total working time. The number of 127 radiation oncologists in Slovakia with a summary commitment of 83.2 is expected to bring savings of 3.8 million over 5 years. €. The project's return is 2 years and the benefit-cost ratio is projected at 3.63.
