Introduction
In early 2020, all countries of the world were affected by the SARs-COV-2 pandemic. The countries of the European Union have gone through a pandemic in several waves. The Commission of the European Union developed a common approach to testing and on 28 October 2020 adopted a recommendation on criteria for the selection of rapid antigenic tests. On 18 February 2021, the European Union Health Security Committee agreed on a common list of rapid antigen tests for the diagnosis of COVID-19, the results of which will be mutually accepted by Member States, and on a common standardised data set to be included in the issued COVID-19 test results certificates.
Project description
The aim of the project is to procure diagnostic testing tests for suspected COVID-19 disease. The use is mainly related to screening testing for the Community spread of infection in outbreaks and plays an important role in slowing down and controlling the transmission of infection. Stopping and preventing the spread of infection in the population and protecting the individual can be achieved through vaccination and monitoring of coronavirus spread through extensive testing to diagnose COVID-19.
Project implementation The management of emergencies during a pandemic caused by SARS-COV-2 with a focus on reducing the spread of COVID-19 disease and reducing negative impacts on the health of the population and the health system of Slovakia strengthening the protection of public health and the resilience of the health system at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring a sufficient number of test kits.
The supported project shall ensure:
- early diagnosis of infected and suspected patients;
- early detection of outbreaks in individual regions,
- reducing the rate and severity of the spread of Covid-19 disease in society;
- reducing the risk of infectious disease spreading among healthcare professionals;
- increasing the test capacity with sufficient number of tests,
- the usability of tests for the provision of urgent health care, in particular from a time perspective;
- increased health protection for Slovak citizens.
Main project activity: Optimising systems, services and strengthening intervention capacities for emergency management at local and regional level
The aim of the action is to strengthen the management of the SARS-CoV-2 crisis situation by streamlining preventive procedures aimed at eliminating the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19 and increasing the overall test capacity by antigen tests.
Subactivity: A2 Provision of special equipment necessary for early and effective intervention
Includes obtaining antigenic tests in sufficient capacity to eliminate their deficiency in the territory of the Slovak Republic.
Through the implementation of the project activities, the following measurable indicators are planned:
- P0401 Number of entities with improved intervention capacity: 2
- PCV03 Value of drugs purchased in connection with COVID-19 testing and treatment: 48 299 997,90€
- PCV10 Support for testing capacities for COVID-19 diagnosis and testing: 12 545 454 pcs
